Natural Resource and Recycled Art This is a visual medium of dynamic materials that are found while wandering the foothills, riverbeds, ranchlands and mountains surrounding the artist. Collecting and combining these treasures with those found at garage sales, grown over dumps, cluttered storage places and the like, magically creates expressive art. To create in this manner, one must be a visionary seeing beauty and compatability before a piece is woven together. There is always a story hidden within any material. The artist adds to this natural presentation her insights and perspectives that help unfold the wonder of mother nature and time. This site invites inclusion of similar art forms. Many of us are impoverished financially and have little or no finances to apply toward our craft so we become resourceful. The passionate need to create and express must be fullfilled and shared regardless of ones station in life. In part, because of our desperate circumstances or in spite of them, we bring to the surface innovations and expressions that otherwise would not find their way to others' hearts. This is made from mixed found objects; cabbed stones, dead bees, plants and painting on the background and on the glass. There is about a half inch of space between the background and the glass, thus the depth. This is a watercolor. I started it very loose with lots of pigment and then studied it to see what I could see there. Then I accented a few things. Can you spot the cat? In keeping with resource and recycled materials, I used old Saran Wrap and a $1.98 certificate frame with bad glass that actually helped the effect. Too, I used non toxic washable childrens paint for the bright areas. |
